HMP Isle of Wight

HMP Isle of Wight was opened in April 2009; it was formed by the clustering of three former establishments  Parkhurst,  Albany and Camp Hill. I is situated on the outskirts of Newport, 4 miles from the ferry port at Cowes, and 8 miles from the ferry port at Ryde.

In March 2013 the Camp Hill site was decommissioned as part of an ongoing programme to modernise the prison estate and further reduce the costs of prison.

HMP Isle of Wight's present role is a category B male training prison.  The prison holds approximately 1100 prisoners on two sites with a central administration.

Traveling to HMP Isle of Wight can be problematic for those traveling from the mainland. It necessitates sea travel, which can be both expensive and erratic, followed by a bus or taxi ride to Newport in the centre of the island.

David Pilbeam is experienced in taking client instructions and is available for legal visits at HMP Isle of Wight. He will book and arrange the visit, take the instructions and report back as required.
